Total E&P Norge AS granted consent for exploration drilling in the North Sea

Total E&P Norge AS has been granted consent to conduct exploration drilling in the North Sea with the Borgland Dolphin mobile facility.

The consent applies to drilling of well 34/6-2, which is part of production licence 554.

The planned position of the rig is:

N 61° 35' 30"
E 2° 45' 14"

Water depth at the site is 383 metres.
 
The anticipated start-up of the operation is June 2012.

The estimated duration of the activity is approx. 60 days, depending on whether discoveries are made.
 
Borgland Dolphin is a Aker H-3 type semi-submersible mobile drilling facility. It was built at Harland & Wolff in Belfast, Northern Ireland in 1977, and underwent extensive upgrades in 1999.
 
The facility is owned by Borgland Dolphin Pte Ltd and is operated by Dolphin Drilling A/S.
